Data Deletion.
Your data belongs to you. If you decide to leave Onimisera, you have the right to have all your personal data permanently deleted. This page explains exactly what is deleted, what is retained, and how to make it happen — no friction, no runaround.
We believe your right to erasure should be as simple as your right to sign up.
What This Page Covers
This page explains how you can request the permanent deletion of your Onimisera account and all associated personal data. If you have questions about how we collect or use your data generally, see our Privacy Policy.
Your right to delete your data is absolute. We do not make it difficult, and we do not make you wait without reason.
What Gets Deleted
When your deletion request is processed, the following data is permanently removed:
Account data
Name, email address, password hash, profile details (university, course, level).
Uploaded content
All PDFs, DOCX files, images, and Markdown files you uploaded for study.
Study history
Practice sessions, quiz results, flashcard reviews, and AI tutor conversations.
Progress & analytics
Mastery levels, topic progress, streaks, and performance tracking data.
AI-generated content (summaries, explanations, questions) created from your uploads is also deleted — not retained for model training.
What Is Retained
A limited amount of data is retained even after deletion, where required by law or for legitimate business purposes:
- Transaction records: Payment and billing records are retained for 6 years as required by Nigerian financial regulations.
- Fraud prevention: Basic email hashes may be retained to prevent abuse and repeated fraudulent account creation.
- Anonymised analytics: Aggregate usage statistics (stripped of personally identifiable information) may be retained for product improvement.
We never retain your learning content, uploaded files, or personal identity data beyond what is legally required.
How to Request Deletion
4.1 From Within the App
Logged-in users can request deletion directly from their account settings. Navigate to Settings → Account → Delete Account. You will receive a confirmation email.
4.2 Via Email
Send a deletion request from your registered email address to privacy@onimisera.com with the subject line: "Data Deletion Request."
Include your full name and the email address associated with your account. We may ask for additional verification to confirm your identity before processing.
4.3 If You Cannot Access Your Account
If you no longer have access to your registered email, contact us at support@onimisera.com with alternative proof of identity. We will work with you to verify ownership and process the request.
Timeline & Process
Here is what happens after you submit a deletion request:

| Grace period | 14 days | Your account enters a grace period. You can still cancel the deletion if you change your mind. |
| Processing | 1–3 business days | After the grace period, we begin permanent deletion of your data. |
| Completion | Within 30 days total | All data is permanently removed. You receive a final confirmation email. |
During the 14-day grace period, your account is deactivated but your data is intact. If you log in during this time, the deletion is automatically cancelled.
Cancelling a Deletion Request
You can cancel a deletion request at any time during the 14-day grace period by:
- Logging back into your account — deletion is automatically cancelled
- Replying to the confirmation email with "Cancel Deletion"
- Contacting support@onimisera.com
Once the grace period expires and processing begins, deletion cannot be reversed.
Your Legal Rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, you have the right to:

Third-Party Data
Onimisera uses third-party service providers for cloud hosting and AI processing. When your data is deleted from Onimisera:
- Deletion requests are propagated to all third-party processors within 30 days
- Cloud storage providers (where uploaded files are stored) are instructed to purge all copies
- AI processing providers are instructed to delete any cached representations of your content
- We confirm deletion with each provider before sending you the final confirmation
We do not use your uploaded content to train AI models — so there is no training data to remove.
